Description

This course is the final course in the Addressing Literacy Disruption series.

Topics include:

  • Fluency elements
  • Importance of vocabulary to literacy proficiency
  • Importance of comprehension to skilled reading

Through exploration of these topics, you will learn to consider the implications for explicit, systematic literacy instruction, and will be able to address any literacy disruption within your environment. Time will be provided for you to connect the content to your practice.

Learning Intentions:

  • Explore the components of fluency:
    • definition
    • terminology
    • teaching stems and prompts
  • Understand vocabulary acquisition and how it is connected to discussion.
  • Understand the elements and definition of comprehension.

 

eCampus by CESA #1 is a collection of virtual learning experiences covering a wide range of topics that focus on building the capacity of educators to positively impact learners. Each course will provide an overview of the “why” and “what” behind a specific practice and then take a deeper dive into HOW educators can bring the practice to life in their unique context. These learning experiences include opportunities for reflection on, and application of, specific instructional practices, strategies, and frameworks. The Learner-Centered Practice and Leading Learner-Centered Education series of courses align with the i4PL model.

All eCampus courses are self-paced, asynchronous and designed to take approximately four hours to complete. Content in courses designated with a I, II, or III are designed to be taken in order. All other courses can be accessed in any order. Enrollment is rolling due to the self-paced nature of the courses.

Important Dates: Registration opens May 16, 2023; Access to courses begins July 1, 2023; Registration closes May 15, 2024; All coursework must be completed by June 15, 2024.
