A variety of assessment frameworks can be used to drive learning in a standards-guided system. This course is an opportunity for you to build rubrics, learning progressions, and proficiency scales for your existing learning environment. Explore how to empower learners to use these tools to monitor their own progress. This course requires you to use upcoming units of study and corresponding standards from your curriculum.

This course is aligned with the i4PL Honeycomb framework for learner-centered practice.

Learning Intentions:

  • Explore the importance of learner ownership in the assessment process
  • Explore methods to support learners in developing an understanding of what they are going to learn, including learning progressions and proficiency scales
  • Identify how rubrics can support a learner-led environment
  • Make connections between how pre-assessments, learning progressions, proficiency scales, and rubrics can support learners in a learner-led environment

 

eCampus by CESA #1 is a collection of virtual learning experiences covering a wide range of topics that focus on building the capacity of educators to positively impact learners. Each course will provide an overview of the “why” and “what” behind a specific practice and then take a deeper dive into HOW educators can bring the practice to life in their unique context. These learning experiences include opportunities for reflection on, and application of, specific instructional practices, strategies, and frameworks. This course aligns with the i4PL Honeycomb framework for learner-centered practice.

All eCampus courses are self-paced, asynchronous and designed to take approximately four hours to complete. Content in courses designated with a I, II, or III are designed to be taken in order. All other courses can be accessed in any order. Enrollment is rolling due to the self-paced nature of the courses.

Important Dates: Registration opens May 16, 2023; Access to courses begins July 1, 2023; Registration closes May 15, 2024; All coursework must be completed by June 15, 2024.
