Description

This course is the final course in the three part Addressing Literacy Disruption series. Topics include:

  • Fluency elements
  • Importance of vocabulary to literacy proficiency
  • Importance of comprehension to skilled reading

Through exploration of these topics, you will learn to consider the implications for explicit, systematic literacy instruction, and will be able to address any literacy disruption within your environment. Time will be provided for you to connect the content to your practice.

Learning Intentions

  • Explore the components of fluency: its definition, terminology, teaching stems and prompts
  • Understand vocabulary acquisition and how it is connected to discussion
  • Understand the elements and definition of comprehension
