This workshop is for people who are seeking to RENEW their CPI certification. Non-Violent CPI Training is a prerequisite (and must have been taken within 18-months to be eligible for the Refresher training).

Legislation was passed regarding Seclusion and Restraint, which took effect on September 1, 2012. This legislation requires all schools to have at least one staff member trained in appropriate seclusion and restraint techniques.

CPI Training is designed for people who are involved with students in potentially aggressive situations. This may include teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, school psychologists, school social workers, guidance counselors, bus drivers, and supervisors of lunchrooms and playgrounds.

Training Objectives

This training will provide participants with violence prevention and crisis techniques developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute including:

  • Identifying escalating behavior

  • Responding to escalating behavior

  • Diffusing hostile behavior and preventing violence

  • Dealing with your anxiety

  • Appropriate and safe physical intervention

  • Dealing with the aftermath of a crisis

  • Proper documentation

Training Time:

8:30am-12:30pm 


Each participant will receive a manual and certificate upon passing a written exam and successful completion of all phases of instruction.

Light refreshments will be provided. Participants should dress comfortably with close-toed shoes.
