The CESA 1 Speech/Language Network is an engaging, collaborative learning series designed specifically for school-based speech/language pathologists. Each virtual session features a focused professional development topic grounded in evidence-based practice, along with dedicated time to connect and problem solve with colleagues. Participants are encouraged to share insights, unpack challenges, and explore practical strategies that strengthen services and improve outcomes for students. Come join us to learn, connect, and leave with practical strategies.

Dates/ Topics:

The Speech/Language Network will meet together on the following dates and address the following topics:

October 21, 2026 - Hot Topics in Speech/Language featuring Dawn Merth-Johnson, Speech/Language and Assistive Technology Consultant, DPI
Stay up to date on the latest issues impacting school-based SLPs! Dawn will lead our discussion on current hot topics and share current guidance from DPI.

December 8, 2026 - Comprehensive Assessment featuring Dr. John Heilmann and Alyssa Wojtyna from WisCCA
Strengthen your assessment practices! This session will explore current guidance for the initial and re-evaluation process, best practices for conducting comprehensive assessments, and resources for standards-based and collaborative goal setting.

February 17, 2027 - You Asked, Let’s Dig in! Network-Selected Topic
This session topic will be chosen by YOU! The participants of the network will select a timely topic to ensure the network addresses current needs, challenges, and practical strategies for school-based SLPs.

April 12, 2027 - Supporting Neurodiverse Students with Complex Communication Needs featuring guest speaker featuring Katie Berg, SNS Statewide Coordinator
Learn strategies to support students with emerging joint attention and complex communication needs while fostering engagement, connection, and communication within the classroom setting. 

All sessions will run virtually from 8:30-10:30 AM. Login information will be provided prior to each session.
