Description

Please join CESA #1, the Milwaukee Urban Autism Summit, the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Community of Practice on Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Developmental Disabilities for our Fall Gathering. This gathering will offer opportunities for educators, self-advocates, family members, and community partners to collaborate, build new skills, network, and, most of all, share best practices that improve experiences for students on the autism spectrum or with other developmental disabilities.

Speaker: Lola Dada-Olley
Lola Dada-Olley is an attorney, disability inclusion advocate, mom, wife, and podcast host. Lola is the older sister to an autistic man and the mom to both a son and a daughter on the autism spectrum. She chronicled her family’s multi-generational autism journey with the launch of the “Not Your Mama’s Autism” podcast in 2020. Part audio memoir/part interview-style podcast, Lola touches on topics such as societal stigma, culture, the intersection of race and disability, healthcare, community policing, and corporate disability inclusion efforts. She is also on the board of directors of two nonprofit organizations centered on increasing access to healthcare, community support, and/or vocational opportunities for people with disabilities. In June 2021, Lola started writing a monthly column for PsychCentral.com, a division of Healthline Media, titled "The Caregiver Chronicles", that takes a deeper dive into her personal account of lifetime caregiving. Lola also gave the TEDx talk in 2021, titled “Your Path is Your Purpose,” where she explains how a series of seemingly disjointed life events led her to where she is today.
