Description
Meets Act 20 Training Requirements following completion of Vol. 1.
LETRS Volume 2 builds on Volume 1's foundation, which emphasizes phonological awareness, phonics, and fluency, providing educators with a comprehensive toolkit to teach literacy effectively. The training includes live sessions facilitated by local experts familiar with the CESA #1 region, online modules, and extensive resources to support practical application in classrooms.
To be considered fully trained in LETRS, this is a required component. This series will focus on:
- Vocabulary Development: Teaching strategies to expand students' vocabulary, which is critical for reading comprehension and academic success.
- Reading Comprehension: Understanding the cognitive processes involved in comprehension and how to teach strategies that improve students' ability to make sense of text.
- Written Expression: Connecting reading and writing through explicit instruction in sentence structure, coherence, and text organization.
- Implementation of Structured Literacy Practices: Integrating skills taught in Volume 1 (phonology, phonics, fluency) with broader literacy instruction to address students’ diverse needs
Audience: Instructional Coaches, EL and Special Education Teachers, Interventionists, K4-3rd Grade Classroom Teachers, Reading Specialists & Teachers, and Administrators. *Prerequisite:* Completion of LETRS Volume 1.

36-56 hours of independent online learning is done outside of the workshop dates.
