Move beyond the fear of cheating and focus on empowering learners to use AI ethically and effectively to enhance their own curiosity and academic growth. Discover practical strategies to help learners leverage AI for brainstorming, refining ideas, deepening inquiry, and developing arguments. This means teaching learners how to use AI as a personal tutor, helping them fix structural issues and clarify messy drafts before they submit their work. As a result, educators will spend less time commenting on basic errors and more time engaging with their learners' actual ideas.

Objectives

  • Define the role of AI as a thought partner versus an answer engine in the context of learning.
  • Practice writing effective prompts to guide AI for specific tasks like brainstorming, summarizing, or offering a counterargument.
  • Identify classroom-appropriate AI tools and articulate the specific strengths of each for student learning.
  • Identify one moment in an existing lesson where AI could be used to support student thinking.
